Former NFL star-turned-analyst Robert Griffin III was left shocked after he saw the arrest video of Olympic sprinter Fred Kerley. As he took to his social media to express his distress, he did not hold back from accusing the Miami-Dade Police of treating the athlete as a “terrorist.”
Last Thursday, the U.S. Olympic sprinter Kerley was arrested by Miami Beach police in South Florida. Although the police have detailed the aggressive demeanor of Kerley, the body camera footage shows a different story. The officers were seen wrestling Kerley to the ground in order to handcuff him, which he was resisting. But ultimately he was subdued with a taser by four police officers.
As the footage caught the attention of the former NFL star Griffin, he didn’t hesitate to raise his concerns in light of Black Lives Matter. Highlighting that Kerley won the Bronze Medal for America in the 2024 Paris Olympics, Griffin III questioned the treatment of the athlete during the arrest.

Griffin added further, “Murderers and terrorist get treated better than Fred Kerley was in this situation.” His comments reflected a growing sentiment among the people on the internet, who believe that law enforcement’s response was inappropriate to the circumstances.
All about Fred Kerley getting arrested after confrontation with Miami-Dade police
According to the police report, the controversial incident was instigated by the Olympian, who was arguing with a bunch of police officers in South Florida. The officers were at the scene for a different reason but Kerley approached one and began forcing his way through his vehicle.
The situation escalated when Kerley began arguing with him after being told to go around since the place where his car was parked was under the limit of the active police scene. This further led to a physical altercation to the point where the police had to use force on the sprinter and tasered him to make the arrest. However, a woman in the background could be heard screaming “No!!.. He didn’t do anything.”
Immediately after the arrest, he was taken to a local hospital and then, booked in Miami-Dade County jail. The Olympic sprinter has been charged with battery on police officers along with resisting the arrest and disorderly conduct.
