Robert Lewandowski wins FIFA Best Men’s Player for 2020 award beating Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi
Robert Lewandowski won the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup

The goal scoring machine was finally given the recognition he deserved for his exploits in the 2019/20 season for Bayern Munich. He scored 55 goals across all competitions as Bayern Munich completed the domestic double and won the Champions League and Super Cup. Cristiano Ronaldo finished second on the list with Lionel Messi third.

Lewandowski tops the three man shortlist

Robert Lewandowski made this shortlist for the first time in his career and is the first person to win the award apart from Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Last year Virgil Van Dijk put in the performance of his career as Liverpool, where they kept 21 clean sheets and conceded just 22 goals in the Premier League. Mind boggling numbers but he missed out on the award as Lionel Messi won the award for leading Barcelona to yet another La Liga.

Robert Lewandowski’s 55 goals meant that Bayern Munich won all domestic and international trophies available to win. As a result he was deservedly awarded the title of Best Men’s Player of 2020 with even Cristiano Ronaldo voting for him. He is the first Bayern Munich player to win the title since 1991 and is also the first player outside a Spanish club to win it.
