Real Madrid and Kylian Mbappe aren’t turning out to be the match made in heaven that many expected it to be. The Frenchman’s lack of decisiveness up front and his inability to sync with the rest of the team’s attack has resulted in a slump in form for the Los Blancos. However, while fans remain divided in their opinion of the Frenchman, former Les Bleus star Robert Pires didn’t hold back from his criticism of the No.9.
Mbappe has only managed to score one goal in his last five outings for the club in all competitions. On the other hand, his strike partner Vinicius Jr. has 12 goals and 7 assists in all competitions. A fan opined that Mbappe has broken the ‘harmony’ in Madrid’s line-up while others blame Carlo Ancelotti for playing him out of position.

The Frenchman has also been left out of the French squad after allegedly falling out with head coach Didier Deschamps. As things stand, Kylian Mbappe quickly needs to change up his game before being ‘replaced’ by another player at club level too.
Former Real Madrid boss ‘blames’ Vinicius Jr. for Ballon d’Or snub
Several Real Madrid players, supporters and even football pundits expressed their dissent at Rodri winning the Ballon d’Or over Vinicius Jr. in October. However, former Los Blancos manager Vanderlei Luxemburgo put the blame on the Brazilian himself for being ‘snubbed’ of the prestigious award. While several fans have labelled racism as one of the reasons for Rodri’s triumph, Luxemburgo believes that it has more to do with the player’s actions on the pitch.
He also cited a moment between the player and Joshua Kimmich last season, where he dropped the ball to the floor despite it being handed to him.

"Persecution of Vinicius for racism? No, I don't think so. He's the one who provokes a lot by doing things he doesn't have to do."

Vinicius expressed his feelings at the Ballon d’Or result with a bold message on social media. He has then followed it up with a sublime hat-trick against Osasuna in La Liga. With the International break coming up, the player also has a chance to put an end to the criticism that he doesn’t perform for the National team.
