Robert Whittaker reacts to Israel Adesanya’s claim of getting ‘bored’ in his last two fights in 2021

UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker is just a fight away to reclaim what was once his, but only if he could beat the current champion who’s on a road to becoming the best ever to do it. Whittaker is going to face the champion Israel Adesanya in a rematch for the ages at the main event of UFC 271 taking place at Toyota Center, Houston, Texas, United States. The first fight happened back in 2019 at UFC 243 when Adesanya knocked Whittaker out in the second round to become the then, new UFC Middleweight Champion.
Since then, both the fighters have 3 victories in the UFC Middleweight Division. Adesanya’s last loss came at the Light-heavyweight division back in 2021 when he challenged the then UFC Light-heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz at UFC 259. But he made 3 successful title defences against Yoel Romero, Marvin Vettori and Paulo Costa. Whittaker on the other hand secured spectacular unanimous decision victories over Darren Till, Jared Cannonier and Kelvin Gastelum. Adesanya and Whittaker are two of the most complete mixed martial artists in the UFC roster and their striking is always about being as skilful as it comes.
Robert Whittaker hopes Israel Adesanya doesn’t get bored against him
In the pre-fight media scrum of UFC 271, Whittaker talked about his fight with Adesanya ahead of the fight night and talks about his thoughts of Adesanya getting bored against Marvin Vettori and Jan Blachowicz back in 2021. Adesanya said that last year was perhaps the most “lacklustre” year of his career.
On being asked if Adesanya will get bored against him, Whittaker simply replied “I hope not, you know haha. If he does then I am doing things wrong. That’s a very Izzy thing to say though.”
