Robin Singh signs for I-League outfit RoundGlass Punjab

I-League club RoundGlass Punjab have roped in the services of Robin Singh. The veteran striker has signed a one-year contract and will stay with the club until the next season.

The Punjab-based club has been aggressively tracking a few seasoned players to add to their roster since the hiring of new head coach Ashley Westwood in July, and one of the names on the list was 31-year-old attacker Robin Singh.

He previously played in the Indian Super League (ISL) for Hyderabad FC before being loaned to Real Kashmir FC in the I-League, where he recorded seven matches and scored one goal. Throughout his career, he has played for some of the best ISL teams.

Singh is a prodigy of the Tata Football Academy and made his professional club debut in 2010 with Kolkata giants East Bengal Club. The striker made steady development while playing for Bengaluru FC (2013-15), Delhi Dynamos (2015/16), FC Goa (2016/17), ATK (2017/18), FC Pune City (2018/19), Hyderabad FC (2019/20), and Real Kashmir FC on loan (2020).

The 31-year-old attacker has played for India at three levels: U-16, U-23, and senior. He has played 30 times for the Indian National Team and scored five goals for the Blue Tigers.

RoundGlass Punjab’s acquisition of Robin Singh may be the start of a reconstruction under Ashley Westwood that will help them return to the top and recover the I-league championship, which they have been seeking since capturing it in 2017-18 campaign. Despite struggling to make an impression in recent seasons, it would not be surprising if Robin Singh, who has so much expertise in Indian football’s top division, became the club’s focal point.

With RoundGlass Punjab FC seeking the I-League crown and Robin Singh looking for a chance to show himself, the deal is a win-win situation for both sides.
