Robin Uthappa is an IPL icon, with over 14 years of involvement in the league and two titles. He was at his peak during his time at Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), where he formed an incredible pair with opening partner Gautam Gambhir. Despite being at the club for six years, he claims he wasn’t treated well during his final season. 

Robin Uthappa appeared on The Ranveer Show, a popular podcast hosted by Ranveer Allahbadia. The former Indian opener accused the franchise of not treating him well despite him being a senior player. He said his poor performances led to massive criticism by the team management, which he did not appreciate.

Lack of performance and the judgments of performance. Let's see, for example, I remember I was absolutely fine during my last year with KKR. For whatever reason, towards the end, personally from my perspective, I wasn't treated very well. As a senior pro, I wasn't treated very well.

Uthappa added that his final appearance at the team was heavily criticized by everyone, especially by the team management. He said he was taken to the cleaners and was forced to switch off the comments on his social media. 

His final innings for KKR was against Mumbai Indians, where he played a slow innings of 40 runs, with a strike rate of 85.11. KKR ended up losing the match, and he never played another match for the franchise. 

Robin Uthappa claims Shubman Gill will captain India in the future 

With Rohit Sharma turning 37 on 30th April, the Indian team management will be thinking about finding the successor for the Indian captain. While fans have a few options, like Hardik Pandya, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant, Robin Uthappa believes it should be Shubman Gill

And I think, we've seen him thrive, and we're seeing him grow into a very prolific leader who is going to lead not just his IPL side, but I also think the Indian team in the near future.

This comment came after Gujarat Titans (GT) beat Punjab Kings by 3 wickets on 21st April. Gill captained his side and restricted the hosts to just 142 runs. GT currently are 6th in the points table, tied on points with Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants.
