His start to the ongoing Premier League season, however, was halted after an ACL injury in September. It is set to keep him out until next year.

Rodri admitted that he loves playing in England and would hope to end his career at Manchester City, where he is immensely ‘valued’. However, Rodri indicated that a return to Spain might be on the cards. While labeling Real as the ‘best club’, he stated that he has been paying attention to it.

I feel very valued at City. For the time being I’m very happy… Obviously when Madrid, the best club in history, calls you, it is an honour. You always have to pay attention.

Moreover, the Spaniard was questioned on whether he would retire at his former side, Villareal. To this, Rodri replied by agreeing that it would be a good option. It remains to be seen whether Los Blancos attempts to sign the midfielder. This is after the club criticized his recent Ballon d’Or win.

However, his father’s advice made him continue.

I have not had a normal adolescence, I have missed many moments. I called my father, heartbroken, and asked him what was the point of everything I had sacrificed to continue.
