Atletico Madrid midfielders Rodrigo De Paul and Conor Gallagher combined to score a brilliant goal, amazing fans. The English midfielder marked his debut goal for the club, as Atletico registered a massive 3-0 win over Valencia. 

Conor Gallagher made his second start for Atletico this season, following his €42 million move from Chelsea, this summer. He had a decent season for the Blues last year, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists in 50 matches. He signed a five-year deal at Madrid, with Enzo Maresca opting to sign Joao Felix in exchange. The union of Gallagher with Atletico manager Diego Simeone was praised by some fans for being a perfect match, owing to their aggressive nature on the pitch.

The 24-year-old midfielder received applause from fans, after scoring his debut goal, helped by a brilliant assist from Rodrigo De Paul. The Argentine put a superb through ball inside the penalty box between the legs of Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera for Gallagher to open the scoring for the home side. Later on, Antoine Griezmann added a second goal for Atletico in the second half, while former Manchester City star Julian Alvarez scored the third goal, to seal a 3-0 win.

Gallagher, in this process, also became the third youngest Englishman, after Jude Bellingham and Mason Greenwood to score a goal in the Spanish league. Meanwhile, the win propelled Atletico to the second position on the La Liga table, with 11 points from five matches.  

€75 million Atletico Madrid starlet Julian Alvarez finally scores a goal for his new club

Argentinian forward Julian Alvarez scored his debut goal for Atletico Madrid, after making a massive €75 million move to the club from Manchester City. He scored the final goal in a 3-0 win over Valencia, at the Metropolitano stadium in Madrid.

Manager Deigo Simeone also expressed delight at Alvarez’s first ever goal, after the player was criticized by fans and pundits for a rather slow start to his life at Atletico. The 24-year-old forward came on as a late substitute, replacing Alexander Sorloth. He then scored an impressive stoppage time goal, following which the team performed his iconice ‘spider-man’ celebration.

This marked his first goal since departing Manchester City where he scored 36 goals and provided 18 assists in 103 appearances. Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid are next set to face RB Leipzig, kick-starting their UEFA Champions League campaign this season.
