Roger Federer has stated that the next generation of players will benefit tremendously from facing the likes of Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic before their pair hang up their rackets. He believes that it will ensure the younger players will have the opportunity to learn from the best and forge their own paths.
The Swiss maestro retired in 2022 but Nadal and Djokovic are yet to bring the curtains down on their careers. While Djokovic is going strong, Nadal has been hampered by injuries in recent years and could soon join Federer in retirement.
In a recent interview, Federer credited the likes of Djokovic, Nadal, and Andy Murray for changing the perception regarding tennis players who continue to play beyond the age of 30.
That’s why it’s wonderful for Rafa and Andy and Novak still playing on tour. It gives the young generation, like Sinner and Alcaraz, for example, a chance to play against these guys multiple times. Not just once or never. But actually a chance.

Roger Federer is curious to see how Novak Djokovic will recover from tiring win against Jacob Fearnley
Novak Djokovic is currently competing in the 2024 Wimbledon Championships after recovering from knee surgery. Despite doubts about his fitness, he has managed to come through his first two matches without any trouble.

In the second round, Djokovic had to come through a testing three-hour contest against Jacob Fearnley. Despite making a good start, he faltered in the third set, which took the match almost an hour longer than he’d have liked to conclude. With the Serbian recently making his comeback after injury, Federer stated that he was curious to see how the 37-year-old will recover for his next match.
Novak is amazing how he’s bounced back. Incredible effort for him after the surgery. I don’t know how he’s feeling but it’ll be very interesting how he bounces back after his 3-hour match yesterday.

Djokovic is set to face Alexei Popyrin in the third round of Wimbledon. He has a 2-0 head-to-head record against the Australian, with their latest meeting coming at the Melbourne Major earlier this year.
