The Laver Cup is scheduled to start in September in Berlin. Nadal will be playing for Team Europe with Bjorn Borg as captain. The Spaniard will team up with his compatriot Carlos Alcaraz, Russia’s Daniil Medvedev, and Germany’s Alexander Zverev.
Many expect this Laver Cup to be Nadal’s last tournament, like Federer’s. Nadal, who turns 38 in June, hinted that he may hang up his racket after this season.
Rafael Nadal has fond memories of the Laver Cup
Rafael Nadal expressed his excitement about playing at the tournament in Berlin. He recalled fond memories of his 2022 campaign, where he played alongside Roger Federer.

I am very happy to be playing in the Laver Cup in Berlin for Team Europe. I have some really special memories from my Laver Cup experiences, including all the emotions from London two years ago playing alongside Roger for the last time.Rafael Nadal said in a statement
Nadal suffered a hip flexor injury during the 2023 Australian Open, and then surgery and recovery made him miss the rest of the year. He came back to the courts in Australia by participating at the Brisbane International this year.
However, an abdominal injury led him to stay off the court for three months, including the first tournament of the European clay season, the Monte Carlo Masters. He played at the Barcelona Open then, where he lifted the title 12 times.
The easy win in his first round over Italy’s Flavio Cobolli made him face Australia’s Alex de Minaur, who knocked out the King of Clay in his possible last Barcelona Open. Nadal’s next goal is to play well at the Madrid Open.
