Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal gave tennis one of its most emotional farewells with their retirements in 2022 and 2024. Their team-tennis goodbye still resonates with fans around the world. Yet, Federer reminded everyone recently that the competitive flame never truly goes out, sparking hopes of a return. Still, he was quick to clarify that a doubles exhibition with Nadal is not on the horizon.
The Swiss great spent a recent afternoon with Andy Roddick for a live episode of the Served podcast. The two legends shared stories, laughter, and reflections from their battles in the early 2000s. Naturally, the conversation turned to the question on every fan’s mind: could Federer and Nadal share the court once more?
Well, we’ve been discussing the possibility of playing an exhibition for a while. But I saw him this summer and when I asked him when he last played tennis, it was in November, so he’s not ready. We still have to be at a certain level, but it would be nice to play together on the court, not just with Rafa, but also in front of you (the crowd) and anyone else, because I think it’s good to share the love of tennis, to inspire the younger generation, to be surrounded by people.
For now, Federer has closed the door on that possibility. He made it clear that while the memories are cherished, there are no immediate plans to revive the “Fedal” magic in an exhibition format. It was a reminder that some chapters, no matter how beloved, must remain in the past.

Still, Federer continues to influence the game even in retirement. He has already drawn attention by giving his prediction for this year’s Laver Cup. Whether competing or watching from the sidelines, his voice and legacy remain central to the sport he shaped for two decades.
Roger Federer and Stephen Curry unite at the Laver Cup
The Laver Cup is taking place this weekend at San Francisco’s Chase Center, a venue that knows plenty about championships. The arena is home to the Golden State Warriors, who have collected four NBA titles under the leadership of Stephen Curry since 2015.

On Saturday night, Curry made a special appearance at the tennis event. The 37-year-old joined the action by performing the coin toss before Taylor Fritz’s impressive victory over world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz. The crowd responded with huge applause when Curry walked out alongside Roger Federer.
Before the match began, Alcaraz and Fritz posed for a photo with Curry and Federer. The moment drew even more excitement as players, coaches, and captains rushed onto the court to join the snapshot. Andre Agassi, in particular, seemed delighted to be part of the scene.
Curry’s presence at tennis events is nothing new. A devoted fan of the sport, he has attended the US Open on several occasions. Earlier this year, he was in New York to watch the men’s singles final between Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
Roger Federer and ON drop sneakers for the Laver Cup
Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer has found new success well beyond his tennis career. The 20-time Grand Slam champion is not only the co-creator of the Laver Cup but also a major figure in the footwear industry through his partnership with Swiss brand On. Since teaming up in 2019, Federer has helped the company grow into a favorite among athletes and fans alike.

To celebrate the Laver Cup, Federer and On have unveiled a limited-edition sneaker, THE ROGER Clubhouse LC. Priced at $150, the shoe is available in both men’s and women’s sizes, though quantities are scarce and already selling out online. Ticket holders at San Francisco’s Chase Center will also get access to this exclusive drop, making it a true collector’s item for tennis fans.
The sneaker combines style and performance. It features hidden CloudTec cushioning, a redesigned Speedboard with added foam for comfort, and a clean, court-inspired silhouette. With its subtle yet premium design, the shoe is versatile enough to wear courtside or on city streets, letting fans showcase their love for the game anywhere.
Special touches connect the sneaker directly to the event. The tongues feature the Laver Cup trophy, while “San Francisco 2025” is stamped on the insoles in metallic silver. Each pair also comes with two sets of laces—white with blue and white with red—allowing fans to represent their team. Just like Federer on the court, On continues to push boundaries, creating footwear that blends elegance, comfort, and innovation.
