Roger Federer, the 20 time Grandslam champion has been on the sidelines ever since his exhibition game against Rafael Nadal in Africa in February. The Swiss suffered a knee injury which has kept him out of action ever since the season resumed after the coronavirus disruption. However in good news for Federer fans, the Swiss is back on courts practicing and is all set to make a comeback in 2021.

Rafael Nadal has had a long standing rivalry with Roger Federer, dating back to 2005. However, the Spaniard speaking to La Resistencia said that he hoped that Federer would return to court at the earliest and predicted a strong comeback from him. “I see that he is already training and I think he will come back quite well,” Nadal told La Resistencia.

A tennis rivalry that developed into a close friendship

The bond between the two has grown stronger over the years

Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer are two of the greatest tennis players of all time, providing us with some brilliant matches in the past such as in he Wimbledon Final in 2008, Australian Open Final 2009. However, their rivalry on court has developed into a great friendship off the court as the years have passed on. The duo have always had mutual respect for each other. The pair also share a common record of having the most Grandslam titles after Nadal won his 13th French Open title in Paris a few weeks back.

Rafael Nadal spoke about his bond with Federer and also said that they keep in touch with each other in these testing times. “These days we often hear from each other, obviously we discuss the tennis players’ advice and in general about important situations,” Nadal explained.“The situation today is very difficult, we have to find a solution given the current times and I have to say that lately we have been talking regularly.”

As Roger Federer begins his practice after recovering from injury, Rafael Nadal is once again back in his beloved city of Paris, this time to claim his maiden Paris Masters title commencing from 2nd November.
