Roger Federer made his much-awaited comeback at the Qatar Open 2021 as he defeated Dan Evans in the second round clash. The Swiss maestro had been out of action since his Australian Open 2020 semifinal loss against Novak Djokovic and underwent two knee surgeries.

However, he brushed aside any questions of him being unfit, as he battled past Evans in a three-set thriller, playing some sublime tennis. With his victory, Roger Federer earned his 1,244th victory on the ATP Tour. Having made his debut way back in 1998, the Swiss maestro has come a long way and has achieved almost every possible feat in tennis.

Jimmy Connors leads the list of most wins on the ATP Tour, winning 1,274 matches. Roger Federer is expected to cut the gap on Connors once he starts playing on the tour regularly. Rafael Nadal reached his 1,000 ATP win last year at the Paris Masters, and is currently fourth in the charts with 1,008 wins. Novak Djokovic is currently sixth on the charts with 943 runs, just six behind Guillermo Vilas’ record of 949 wins.

Novak Djokovic to enter the ‘Club 1000’ soon

Novak Djokovic has 943 ATP wins to his name and is expected to break the 1000 match mark in the near future. The Serbian will become only the fifth player to have won more than 1,000 ATP matches. The world number one also claimed the historic world number one ranking from Roger Federer earlier this week, as he started his 311st week at the top of the ATP Rankings.

Roger Federer is just 30 wins behind Jimmy Connors who has most ATP wins in the Open Era. The Swiss maestro will certainly have an eye on the record, but he is more focused on preserving his body at this stage of his career. As for Rafael Nadal, he has not remained active on tour in the past year, focusing on the Grandslams. The Spaniard is expected to return for the Monte Carlo Masters next month, as he gears up for the clay court season.
