World’s top players; Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Dominic Thiem and Alexander Zverev have stepped up to raise funds for children who live in poverty. They are doing so through the United Charity, which is Europe’s largest charity portal.

More than 2.5 million children in Germany currently live in income poverty. United Charity’s aim with its auctions is to help alleviate the plight of children in this country and worldwide. It supports wherever donations are urgently needed. This usually affects children from socially disadvantaged families, children with serious or life-threatening diseases and children who are exposed to an acute emergency situation.

These players have agreed to auction off their gear on United Charity’s portal, including their autographed racquets and outfits to raise money for the same.

Rally for Relief

Further, this is not the first time that the community of tennis has gathered to lend a helping hand.

Tennis stars supported those impacted by bushfires in Australia. ‘The Big 3’ along with Serena Williams and many others partook in ‘Rally for Relief’. This helped raise almost AUD $5 million. Moreover, Rafael Nadal and Federer announced that they would donate $250,000 to the relief efforts.

At the time, Rafa had stated how he hoped that this would help inspire others. He wished that others would support the people devastated by the disaster as well. This seems to be the emotion behind Djokovic, Federer, Thiem and Zverev’s recent contribution as well.

Many followers of tennis, especially kids, aim to emulate the likes of Djokovic and Federer. Hence, getting a chance to sport the gear of their absolute favourites is one most won’t let go of.

On the other side of this coin, there are people who can’t even afford one meal in a day. To raise money for this neglected part of our society, these tennis champions have allowed bidding of their signed outfits and clubs until November 12th.
