Tennis great Roger Federer had some amazing moments with Rafael Nadal in his career. From rivals to friends, the two have come a long way and once again, the Swiss took it to the media to shower his praise on Nadal. 

Nadal is playing the French Open for possibly one last time and all eyes are on him to perform and come as close as possible to winning a title. Unfortunately, because of low ranking, Nadal was placed against Alexander Zverev in the first round. It is one of the most surprising draws ever and can end Nadal’s run in Roland Garros early on.

Federer respects Nadal’s decision to retire on his terms, and not on some couch but also hopes that he does not retire just yet. Adding on Federer also said that he is a big Nadal fan.

Moreover, the Swiss legend also has expectations for Nadal and is confident that the Spaniard can have a great Roland Garros this year. Despite all the injury concerns and loss of form, Federer still has Nadal as a favorite for the French Open.

Former Swiss pro Roger Federer was asked in the same conversation if he believes that his former rival Rafael Nadal can have a good Roland Garros, given his lack of form this year. Unsurprisingly, Federer said yes.

Can he have a great Roland Garros? I think so. The day of rest between the rounds is exactly what he needs. Then there are the five sets and that is another question that he himself cannot answer. But he had such an advantage in his best period that I still think he is capable of having a great Roland Garros.

Nadal will take on Alexander Zverev on Monday in one of the must-watch games of the Grand Slam. It is an exciting matchup for sure as the fans are already seen gathering in the stadium to witness Nadal play for possibly the last time.
