Over the past few weeks, Roger Federer has made the headlines in the tennis community thanks to his new documentary ‘Federer: Twelve Final Days.’ During a recent interview about the documentary, the 42-year-old revealed his deep connection with his friend Rafael Nadal, while adding he was surprised the Spaniard cried on his farewell.
Nadal and Federer formed a deep connection on the court, despite their competitiveness. The duo’s respect for each other has been the glue behind their friendship. However, they became really close to one another during the last days of Feeder’s career. They even partnered in the doubles at the 2022 Laver Cup playing Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe.

However, Federer recalled that he was surprised when he saw Nadal in tears during his last match at the 2022 Laver Cup.
That surprised me a lot. I think by the time everything was done, that's when everyone started to realize how lucky we still are to be playing and competing. And I think maybe that's what Rafa felt. I'm not sure, I never talked about it with him. I never heard him talk about it, other than to say, I don't know, that it was just a difficult time.Roger Federer said Today.com
The duo met 40 times on the court, with Federer winning 16 and Nadal 24, but they would go on to become close friends. With Nadal playing his last season, it could be the end of the Fedal era in tennis.
While Federer is busy with the promotions of his latest documentary, his rival and friend Nadal is back home training on clay for the upcoming Paris Olympics. The Spaniard had opted out of Wimbledon to train for the Olympics.
Roger Federer wishes Rafael Nadal the best for his last Olympics at Paris
Roger Federer has also wished Rafael Nadal the best as he prepares for his last Olympics. The Spaniard has gone through a difficult clay season with his best run at the Madrid Open where he reached the round of 16. At the French Open, he exited in the first round.
He has withdrawn from Wimbledon with the aim to remain clay-ready as the tennis competition in the Olympics will be played at the Roland Garros court.

Due to the fact that he lost early to Alexander Zverev in Roland Garros, he can now scare himself a little before the Olympic Games. Of course, I wish him only the best.Roger Federer said per El Paris
Nadal will partner with Carlos Alcaraz in the men’s doubles of the Paris Olympics. This will be the 38-year-old’s fourth Olympics, having won one gold in singles and doubles respectively so far.
