Roger Federer recently released his documentary “Federer: Twelve Final Days” on Amazon Prime. The film chronicles his last few days in professional tennis, capturing his thoughts and many behind-the-scenes of those last few days. The film traces every player’s reaction leading up to the 2022 Laver Cup.
Federer is known to be a very private person and usually does not like others to indulge in his personal space. Even though the documentary was initially shot for just him, Federer later on decided to release it to the world. While every important player in his life got a segment to their name, his wife was one of them, who was a highlight of the film.
In a recent interview with L’equipe, Federer revealed that his wife wanted more to be filmed just for the family towards his retirement. Although the film crew shot some of the most important parts, his wife was left with a small regret at not being able to film more.
Privacy is super important. But at the end of my career, my wife, Mirka, said to me: 'I regret that we didn't film more, just for us'.Roger Federer said
Mirka Federer was an important part of the documentary and had a whole segment dedicated to her guidance and support for her husband. Even Federer had high praise for her in many interviews ahead of his film release.
Roger Federer couldn’t thank Mirka enough
Mirka Federer, a former tennis player and the wife of Roger Federer, was a perfect partner for the Swiss, as she supported him through all his highs and lows. The two met way back before Federer even had his first Grand Slam title and are still going strong with four kids.
Reflecting on the same in a recent interview with El Pais, Federer had enormous praise for his wife for being there during all the important phases of his career. Just as Federer became the father of two twin girls, it was up to his wife to handle the children while traveling with Federer on tour.
She worked very hard in the second part of my career with the children, making everything work as we traveled around the circuit.Roger Federer said
The documentary is now available to the world and the fans are loving every bit. With an emotional ending, they were ready to shed some tears for Federer. The reviews also praised his wife, as many also agreed with what the Swiss pro had to say about his wife.
