Breaking: Roger Federer withdraws from Miami Open 2021

20-time grand slam champion, Roger Federer has officially withdrawn from the 2021 Miami Open.
The Swiss maestro has been out of action for more than a year now. He underwent too knee-surgeries and is set to make a comeback at the Qatar Open next week. Federer was scheduled to play at Dubai and Miami too.
But the former world no.1 has now taken his name back at the ATP Masters 1000 event.
The Miami Open was cancelled last year because of the coronavirus pandemic. Meanwhile in the 2019 edition, Roger Federer himself emerged the winner after defeating local John Isner 6-1,6-4 in the final.
Novak Djokovic equals Roger Federer’s record

During his comeback, the Swiss’ yet another record is on the verge of breaking by Novak Djokovic. As of today, both Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer are tied at 310 weeks each at the World no.1 sport and Djokovic will take the lead next week.
Federer is set to return to the tour this month, but he is lagging way behind in the points tally. And it will take Federer more than one good showing to get back his throne. Novak surely will build on that lead too once he recovers from that abdominal injury and comes back on tour.
The only real competitor that Djokovic has is Rafael Nadal. With the clay court season coming up, if Nadal can notch up a few titles he can actually push Novak and claim that no.1 spot.
