With Super Bowl 60 just around the corner, commissioner Roger Goodell is hoping that the Donald Trump administration does not make it difficult when Bad Bunny performs the halftime show.

After all, they have been extremely critical of the NFL’s decision to bring in someone who has opposed many of the government’s decisions, particularly those regarding their stance against immigrants. Being a Puerto Rican himself, Bad Bunny has not stopped at any chance to either call out Trump’s government or take shots at the ICE officers on the ground.

Reporters present at the Super Bowl 60 media sessions decided to ask Roger Goodell about the rapper’s comments against ICE while accepting his Grammy Award.

He understood the platform he was on. This platform is used to unite people and to be able to bring people together with their creativity, with their talent, and to be able to use this moment to do that. I think artists in the past have done that. I think Bad Bunny understands that, and I think he’ll have a great performance.

Roger Goodell replied

It seems Bad Bunny’s comments did not faze the commissioner, nor did it matter whether it would attract unwanted attention from Donald Trump’s administration.

However, he stressed that the musical artist is aware of the platform he has when he takes to Levi’s Stadium, and Goodell believes Bunny would do his part to unite people.

Roger Goodell does not believe ICE will be deployed at Super Bowl 60

On the topic of Bad Bunny and how his words at the Grammy Awards could impact security at the Super Bowl, reporters asked if Roger Goodell knew about any possible ICE activities.

It’s a SEAR 1 level event that involves unique assets at the federal level, state level, and the local level… I just anticipate we’ll continue to do the work to make it the safest event.

Roger Goodell replied

The 66-year-old clarified that since the league was working with the federal government for the security detail that would be needed at Levi’s Stadium throughout this week, he had not heard of any change to their usual plans.

That answer seems to suggest that he knows for sure that the Department of Homeland Security would not be deploying ICE agents as it was initially feared. Other media houses have also confirmed that the initially planned schedule of sending ICE agents to San Francisco two days before Super Bowl 60 seems to have been scrapped.

Whether it was the recent turn of events in Minneapolis or the decisions taken by Donald Trump’s administration to stop the heat from reaching their officers, it seems the biggest game of the year will not be undermined by law enforcement officers.

Kid Rock to headline Turning Point USA’s All-American halftime show

Roger Goodell might be breathing a sigh of relief when it comes to Donald Trump and his immigration officers, but he will have competition in the form of Turning Point USA. Even though many NFL stars and some teams gave their slain founder, Charlie Kirk, his respect, it seems the organization wants to make the most of this opportunity.

When Bad Bunny was announced as the Super Bowl 60 halftime show performer, the political activist group had floated plans of hosting their own show during the same time slot.

However, they were unable to get hold of good artists who were willing to perform, and soon the plan was dropped. In recent days, there were rumors that the idea was back on the table.

Now, the organization has announced its lineup, which is headlined by Kid Rock, one of Donald Trump’s most ardent supporters. They have also added Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett to entertain their patriotic fans.

Despite being labeled as a snooze fest, last year’s Super Bowl halftime show, performed by Kendrick Lamar, saw a little more than 133 million people tuning in. Turning Point USA hopes to sway millions of ‘patriotic Americans’ towards their show.
