With just a few days left for Super Bowl LIX, the narratives surrounding Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs being favored by officials are still doing the rounds. Some fans have even tagged Commissioner Roger Goodell with proof suggesting the league is scripting its tale.
That tale involves Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs and the Travis Kelce – Taylor Swift romance. That script is what attracts younger fans. Many felt the league was deliberately trying to spin a movie script based on these characters. That would become the fodder for discussions amongst fans for the future.
Fans and analysts believe for this to happen, the league has probably asked officials to help the Kansas City Chiefs through game-changing decisions. With that on the minds of reporters, they asked commissioner Roger Goodell about this at the Super Bowl LIX media day.
"That's a ridiculous theory — for anyone who might take it seriously. But at the end of the day, it's something we always have to continue to work on: How do we make our officiating better?"

He added that the officials have done a fantastic job this season. Goodell also understands that officiating needs constant improvement to as to not commit mistakes. However, he believes the Kansas City Chiefs are in the Super Bowl LIX due to their own capabilities.
Patrick Mahomes and Chiefs have to do their best to avoid negative narrative surrounding favorable officiating
The league has long lived off the past. Now with the Chiefs reaching their third-straight Super Bowl and possibly scripting history with a three-peat, the NFL would have young fans latching on to the league as one of the best in the world.
However, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs might not want a label on them that suggests they were helped by the officials to their third-straight Super Bowl. To avoid that marketing mess, the team will have to battle the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are a formidable team from top to bottom and will be difficult to beat.
However, Andy Reid and his team are as clutch as anyone in the NFL is. If the Chiefs play the game their way and win fair and square, fans will finally start giving them the praise they deserve. Then they can head into the offseason, knowing no negative narrative will follow them.
