Hooliganism is a word synonyms with football fans but the word hardly identifies itself with cricket.

Things however took a turn for worse in Mahrashtra’s Kolhapur, where cricket fans bashed a boy over petty reason.

Fans of iconic cricketers MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma reportedly got into a fight between themselves on Saturday, reported ABP Live.

The incident happened in Kolhapur’s Kurundwad where a youngster was beaten.

The fight was erupted following a chain of incident. It started with posters and banners of MS Dhoni erected by his fans post his international cricket retirement.

Rohit’s fans did the something similar after the Indian openers was conferred with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award on Saturday.

The hoardings of Rohit Sharma were soon destroyed by some unknown people. This led to confrontation between the two set of fans.

Things got ugly after a Rohit fan started abusing Dhoni fans over Rohit Sharma’s posters being taken down.

The boy was then reportedy dragged to a sugarcane field nearby. He was then reportedly bashed by a group of young men for abusing.

Virender Sehwag shows disappointment over brawl

The clash over such petty reasons left many disappointed on social media. Former cricketer Virender Sehwag took to Twitter to express his concern over the brawl.

The 41-year-old retired cricketer urged fans not to take their fandom to violent level.

“Kya karte rehte ho paagalo. Aapas mein players are either fond of each other or just don’t talk much, kaam se kaam rakhte hain. But kuchh fans alag hi level ke pagle hain. Jhagda Jhagdi mat karo, Team India ko- as one yaad karo,” read Sehwag’s Tweet.

This translates to, “Players are fond of each other or they don’t talk much. They speak only as much as required but some fans are mad. Please do not fight against each other and treat Team India as one.”
