India’s regular Test captain, Rohit Sharma, arrived in Perth on November 24 and was present in the dressing room on the fourth day of the first Test match between Australia and India at the Optus Stadium. The Board of Cricket Control In India (BCCI) uploaded a video of the Indian captain batting in the nets and facing the pink ball ahead of the second Test match which is a Day/Night Test match at the Adelaide Oval.
Sharma missed the first Test due to the birth of his baby boy and Jasprit Bumrah captained the side in his absence. However, the Indian team did not face any issues as they beat the Australians by momentous 295 runs. KL Rahul opened the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal and both of them stitched together a 201-runs partnership in the second innings.

Rahul displayed excellent technical abilities to negate the threat of the new ball in both innings. He scored 77 runs in the second innings and his opening partner Jaiswal scored 161 runs. So, it remains to be seen if India do go on to disturb this opening partnership with the return of their regular captain for the Adelaide Test.
Jasprit Bumrah had no worries with the form of Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli went on to score his 81st international century and his 30th Test hundred in this match. It was his first century since the semi-final of the ODI World Cup 2023 in Mumbai. There were serious discussions on the form of Kohli after his lack of runs in the home Test series against Bangladesh and New Zealand.

However, Bumrah stated that he did not see Kohli out of form. He reasoned that it was the challenging wickets back at home which caused the lack of runs for the former Indian captain. He felt that it is hard to judge the form of a batter on challenging wickets and stated that Kohli looked to be batting well in the nets always.
I didn’t see him out of form at all. On challenging wickets it’s hard to judge if a batsman is in form. He was looking good in the nets.
Jasprit Bumrah said at the post-match presentation
Sharma is also lacking runs in the Test format. He scored 91 runs in the six innings at an average of 15.16 in the three-match home Test series against New Zealand. So, he will be looking to get back among the runs as soon as possible.
