Ex-India captain Rohit Sharma had an insane reaction to a mimicry artist enacting former teammate and legendary World Cup-winning captain MS Dhoni at the 2025 CEAT Cricket Awards in Mumbai. Sharma was also presented with a special award at the ceremony.

Rohit Sharma made his first public appearance after being removed as India’s ODI captain, with Shubman Gill replacing him. It is the only format that the 38-year-old plays in, after having announced his retirement from both Test and T20Is. Sharma still stands strong as the ICC World no. 2 ranked batter in the 50-over format, having guided the Men in Blue to the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year.

It is no secret that Rohit Sharma would love to fill his trophy cabinet with a World Cup trophy, and is aiming to be fit enough to be a part of the Indian ODI squad to keep his 2027 World Cup dream alive. His next major assignment will be the ODI series against Australia away from home, which marks Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s return to India colors after seven months.

Rohit Sharma attended the 2025 CEAT Cricket Awards with his wife Ritika Sajdeh, donning an elegant spiffy burgundy two-piece suit and white sneakers. Seemingly addressing rumors of his future with the Men in Blue, the 38-year-old looked leaner and fitter, after having worked out extensively over the past few months, in order to direct a message towards the selectors of his desire to continue playing.

During the night, the ace opener was even presented a special recognition award by Sunil Gavaskar. Seated in the audience with his wife Ritika, Sharma was later captured in a heartwarming video, laughing his lungs out at a special act by mimicry artist Shaarang Shringarpure.

He entertained the crowd by expertly mimicking cricket legends MS Dhoni, Ricky Ponting, and Danny Morrison. It was the former India captain’s act that left Rohit Sharma awestruck for minutes and laughing uncontrollably.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma will next be seen in action in the three-match ODI series against Australia, which begins on October 19. The series opener will be played in Perth, with the other two matches scheduled in Adelaide and Sydney.

MS Dhoni in Mumbai Indians Colors Stuns Fans, Fuels IPL Trade Talk Involving Rohit Sharma

Since having announced his retirement from international cricket in 2020, it has been a routine for speculation to emerge after the end of each IPL season over MS Dhoni’s future. The 44-year-old CSK icon however, left fans in disbelief after being spotted in the jersey of his rival franchise.

A picture of the CSK captain went viral on social media, where he posed for a picture with friends and after a casual football match, while donning a sleeveless Mumbai Indians t-shirt. It left fans and social media users in utter disbelief, with many speculating that the former Indian superstar might end his long 18-year association with Chennai ahead of the 2026 IPL season, in a dramatic bid to move to Mumbai.

The picture also led to some fans demanding for MS Dhoni to move out of Chennai Super Kings, on order to facilitate a swap deal involving Rohit Sharma. It is speculated that the Indian opener, who has most recently been sacked from the ODI captaincy role, is unhappy with his position in the MI setup and might be considering spending the last few years of his IPL career away from the franchise.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen whether MS Dhoni turns out for the 2026 IPL season, given concerns over his declining form and fitness. Dhoni has been struggling with back and knee issues for some time now, and is yet commit future with CSK.
