Rohit Sharma is always known for his humorous outbursts even before he became the Team India captain. After India’s iconic victory parade in Mumbai, there was a separate meet and greet for the Mumbaikars who were a part of the Indian World Cup winning squad in the West Indies and USA combined.
In what was a star-studded felicitation of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube and Yashasvi Jaiswal, there was also a small interaction with the players led by the Indian captain. In the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde and his deputy, Devendra Fadnavis, Sharma had a hearty laugh about the wonder catch of SKY in the grand finale.
Talking about the catch, Rohit said that SKY told him about the ball getting stuck in his hands. Following that, in a joking manner, the Indian captain said with a laugh that if the ball would not have gotten stuck in his hands, then he would have definitely dropped SKY from the squad.
Suryakumar Yadav said the ball landed in his hands, it's good that it did...Otherwise, I would have dropped him from the team.Rohit Sharma said
Rohit : It's good that Suryakumar Yadav said the ball landed in his hands, otherwise I would have removed him from the team later on. ???

This conversation was greeted with a massive applause and also a hearty laughter from the audience present in the hall in order to award the world-conquering cricketers emphatically. Eknath Shinde also announced an award of INR 11 crore for the Indian cricket team.
A glance at the phenomenal catch taken by Suryakumar Yadav in the 2024 T20 World Cup final
What read 30 from 30 at one point in time had reduced down to 16 from 6 before Hardik Pandya was handed over the ball in his hands. The first ball of the over saw David Miller coming down the ground before going after the over-pitched delivery.
There was nothing wrong with the shot as he connected it fine enough and it was well en route to what could have been a confidence shattering maximum and would have also changed the momentum of the game in favour of South Africa.
But arriving like a bolt of lightning from the skies, Suryakumar Yadav came running and found the ball stuck in his hands before he balanced himself and then crossed the line while throwing the ball up and then came back strongly to collect it comfortably enough. That moment of madness from SKY changed the complexion of the game and the entire world was left speechless.
