Sam Konstas vs. Jasprit Bumrah has been a heated battle right from the time the 19-year-old Aussie made his Test debut in the fourth Test match at the MCG. He went after Bumrah, who has been a thorn in Australia’s path, with some audacious shots. Bumrah dismissed him in the second innings and also gave him a send-off.

At the end of Day 1 of the fifth Test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Bumrah and Konstas got involved in a heated altercation yet again. Usman Khawaja was taking his time so that Bumrah’s over turned out to be the final of the day, with which the fast bowler was not pleased. However, Konstas from the non-striker’s end had a go at him, and Bumrah came charging in with a mouthful.

Bumrah sent back Khawaja on the final ball of the day and celebrated on the face of Konstas. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma, who has sat out of this game, sent a piece of advice for the 19-year-old. Sharma stated that Indian players don’t want to start a fight, but if the opposition players have a go at them, they won’t be quiet. He advised Konstas to play the game quietly and not talk needlessly.

Hamare Ladke Shaant hain, Ab koi faaltu ki ungli karega toh hum shaant thodi rahenge. Cricket khelo bas, faaltu ka bol Bachchan kaaye ko Karna (Our boys are calm, but if someone tries to poke us without a reason, we will not be quiet. Play cricket, don’t talk needlessly).

Rohit Sharma said during a conversation with Sapru and Irfan Pathan on Star Sports.

Rohit Sharma opted out of the playing XI owing to poor run of form

Sharma has failed to score runs in the longest format of the game for quite a long time. Even in the five innings in the ongoing BGT, he has scored 31 runs at a dismal average of 6.20. He has totally lacked confidence and stated that he had a conversation with the head coach, Gautam Gambhir, before the Sydney Test. He said that he did not want too many off-form players in the playing XI and also got the backing from the team management and the selectors.

I am not in form. Runs are not coming. We didn’t have too many players in form. I thought we couldn’t have too many out-of-form players in the team. I told the coach and the selectors. They backed my decision, saying that I have been playing for a long time and know what is best for me and the team.

Rohit Sharma said.

Australia chased down the target of 162 on Day 3. As such, the Aussies have regained the Border Gavaskar Trophy after a decade of Indian dominance. Despite the loss, the fitness of Jasprit Bumrah still remains a major concern for the Indian team.
