Yashasvi Jaiswal‘s international career has been taking some big strides in the last two years. However, his domestic cricket at the same time had faced some turbulence. Jaiswal started his cricket career at the domestic level with the Mumbai team.

However, Jaiswal had shocked many in April earlier this year when he decided to apply for a No Objection Certificate that would allow him to change his state team. He was planning to move to the state of Goa and continue his domestic cricket career with the new state.

But he soon decided to withdraw his application for an NOC and wrote a letter to the Mumbai Cricket Association regarding the same. He mentioned in the letter that he had plans of relocating with his family to Goa, but the plans have changed now, and he would like to continue to play for Mumbai in the upcoming domestic seasons.

Mumbai Cricket Association President, Ajinkya Naik, in a recent interview mentioned how much of an impact Indian batter Rohit Sharma also played in Jaiswal making the decision of withdrawing his NOC application.

Rohit asked Yashasvi to stay on in Mumbai at this stage of his career – he explained to Yashasvi that there was a lot of pride & Prestige in playing for a team like Mumbai which has won 42 Ranji titles – Rohit also told Yashasvi that he must not forget that it was Mumbai Cricket that he got a platform to show his talent and must be grateful to the city for that.

There were numerous reports that Jaiswal had a rift with Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane. The famous incident of Rahane sending Jaiswal off the field due to excessive sledging reportedly didn’t sit well with the batter. There were reports of Jaiswal also kicking Rahane’s cricket kitbag. However, the heat seems to have settled as Jaiswal will continue to represent Mumbai at the domestic level.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Coming of Age in England

Yashasvi Jaiswal had an incredible six weeks in England. It wasn’t very straightforward for the batter, but he managed to hold his head high at the end of the tough and testing series. Jaiswal started the tour with a magnificent 100 at Headingly. However, the happiness didn’t last long as he dropped three catches in the same Test to allow England to turn the match on its head and eventually win it.

Jaiswal then struggled to find a big score as apart from a couple of fifties he often got out in the first few overs of the innings. However, the batter stayed solid as he capped off the series with a remarkable 100 at The Oval in the final Test. Jaiswal’s knock allowed India to set England a steep last innings chase which eventually the home side failed to achieve.

Jaiswal incredibly has hit a 100 on his first outing in both Australia and England. Both these marquee innings came in a span of 9 months for the batter. His numbers were 411 runs in 10 innings at an average of 41.1 which is considered good for an opening batter in some challenging conditions. The 23-year-old who is also a mainstay in the T20I side will shift his focus to the upcoming Asia Cup where he at the top of the order will hold the responsibility of giving India solid starts.
