BCCI have finally announced their 15-man squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England and the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar, along with the captain Rohit Sharma, announced the squad during a press conference on January 18. India have picked four spinners in their squad with the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav.
Out of the four spinners, only Yadav is not an all-rounder, while the rest of the three are recognized all-rounders. India’s captain was questioned on the reason behind picking four spinners in the CT 2025 squad.
The Indian captain stated that the majority of the spinners picked are proper all-rounders, and hence they will give a good batting depth to the side. Shama also reasoned that there are fewer seam bowling all-rounders in the nation and hence they need to stack up the team with spin bowling all-rounders.

Sharma further stated that the spinners picked in the team were not just to fill the roles of a batter or a bowler. He called them proper bowlers and batters in the ODI format. The Indian captain is very happy with the performances of his spinners and stated that they have won matches for the national team in the past.
Sharma feels that they will provide him and the team management with more options to choose from during the tournament, which will in turn help the team in the crucial moments. Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj, who has been a regular part of the team until now, has missed out on a place in the CT squad.
India will play all their matches in the tournament at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. They last played an ODI series in August 2024 against Sri Lanka, which they lost 2-0. The Indian team will be looking to make the best out of the three-match ODI series against England.
