Rohit Sharma is back in Indian colors after a hiatus post the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 win. He was not part of India’s 3-0 T20I series win against Sri Lanka as he has already announced his retirement from T20Is after the T20 World Cup 2024.

Sharma is now back in the team with the other senior players like Virat Kohli for the 3-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. The Hitman talked about his T20I retirement ahead of the first ODI between Sri Lanka and India in Colombo. He feels that he is still not feeling retired from the T20I format.

At the moment, the T20I retirement feeling is like I have been rested for a series like it used to happen in the past, and there will be big tournaments coming up and we have to get ready for T20Is again. I still feel like that, so I don't think I am completely out.
Rohit Sharma said at the pre-match press conference

After India’s exit from the semifinal of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, Sharma and Virat Kohli were rested in the T20I bilateral series for two years. They made their comeback in the T20I series against Afghanistan just ahead of the T20I World Cup.

Sharma and Kohli along with Jadeja announced their retirement from the T20I format after the T20 World Cup win. They were in tears after they ended the draught of 11 years of heartbreaks, coming close to the trophy but not being able to get it in their hands.

As they finally won the trophy, the two stalwarts will now prepare for the ICC Champions Trophy and the ICC World Test Championship Final in 2025. Both of them will now divert their whole focus on the 50-overs and the Test format.
