A World Cup win is always special and when it comes after a staggering 13 years, it gets even more unique. Despite coming close on multiple occasions in the last 2-3 years, India failed to cross the final hurdle.
However, that jinx was shattered in Barbados when they went onto defeat South Africa in the grand finale of the 2024 T20 World Cup. In order to celebrate India’s victory, Rohit Sharma has requested the fans to come out on the streets for a victory parade.

Taking to X which was formerly known as Twitter, Rohit Sharma appealed to the Indian fans to come out on the streets and accompany the team on the cavalcade of glory. And the response on the post of his was absolutely overwhelming.
India, we want to enjoy this special moment with all of you. So let’s celebrate this win with a victory parade at Marine Drive & Wankhede on July 4th from 5:00pm onwards. It’s coming home.Rohit Sharma wrote on X
Fans have seen before whenever India has won the grand silverware, whether in 1983 or 2007 or 2011, the crowds have not missed out an opportunity to greet the players in with a hero’s welcome and eventually tag alongside them in what one would call a victory parade rife with the pyrotechnics and confetti.
A sneak peek into Rohit Sharma’s numbers at the 2024 T20 World Cup
Rohit Sharma finished as the leading run scorer for Team India in the latest edition of the biennial extravaganza as he managed to smash 257 runs at an average of 36.71 and a strike rate of 156.70. Sharma also registered three half-centuries in the tournament.

He started the tournament on a high with a fine half-century against Ireland when India had to brave an early scare. Despite falling short in the upcoming games against Pakistan, USA and Afghanistan, he roared back to life when it mattered the most.
With Australia and England shooting for kill, Sharma spearheaded the Indian charge with a couple of his signature knocks that saw the oppositions scurrying back for shelter. At the end of the T20 World Cup, he also bade goodbye to the shortest format of the game.
