Fourth seed Alexander Zverev has stormed into his fourth consecutive Roland Garros semi-final after dispatching talented Australian Alex de Minaur 6-4, 7-6, 6-4. He is set to face seventh seed Casper Ruud in the last four, who gained a semi-final spot after the withdrawal of defending champion Novak Djokovic.
Zverev will be looking to make his second Grand Slam final of his career after losing a five-setter in the 2020 US Open final against Dominic Thiem. On the other hand, Ruud will be looking to reach his fourth Grand Slam final of his career and third at Roland Garros.

Alexander Zverev vs. Casper Ruud: Match Preview
Alexander Zverev and Casper Ruud are entering this match with a lot of hard work. Zverev was handed arguably the toughest draw a player can ask for when he was scheduled to play 14-time Roland Garros champion Rafael Nadal in the first round. He overcame the King of Clay in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6, 6-3. Furthermore, he played two five-setters against 26th seed Tallon Griekspoor and 13th seed Holger Rune.
Ruud didn’t face as many difficulties as the Germans, but he also encountered a few problems along the way. The Norwegian had a five-set battle against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the second round. He also had tough four-setters against Tomas Martin Etcheverry and Taylor Fritz.
Both players have tremendous form on clay this year. Zverev won the Masters 1000 title in Rome, whereas Ruud made it to his first Masters 1000 final in Monte Carlo and won his first Masters 500 title in Barcelona.
Alexander Zverev vs. Casper Ruud: Match Prediction
Alexander Zverev and Casper Ruud have faced each other four times, with their head-to-head score tied at 2-2. However, their lone meeting came in last year’s Roland Garros semi-final, where the Norwegian won in straight sets.
Ruud has reached two French Open finals in his career but unfortunately had Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic on the other side of the net in those matches. With both players out of his path, he would be more confident than ever to get third-time lucky in Paris.
On the other hand, Zverev will also be eyeing a massive opportunity to prove himself on the Grand Slam level. He suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the Australian Open semi-final earlier this year, losing to Daniil Medvedev in five sets despite having a two-set lead. Moreover, he will have flashbacks of his foot injury that he sustained in the 2022 semi-finals against Nadal. Hence, the fourth seed would have enough reasons to be motivated to win.
Match prediction: Casper Ruud to win in five sets.
