The Atlanta Braves suffered a huge blow in the game against the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday. Superstar Ronald Acuna Jr. exited the game due to Achilles tightness and is heading to the injured list once again. This development sparked some heated reactions from the fans who blasted the organization and blamed them for his injury.
After winning the National League MVP award in 2023 for finding the 40-70 club (40 home runs and 70 stolen bases), Acuna Jr. missed the majority of the 2024 season through an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
He would undergo the Tommy John Surgery and return to MLB action almost a year after suffering that major injury in May. In his very first at-bat of the season, he smashed a home run and announced his return in style.
Since then, Acuna Jr. has been one of the bright spots in a dull season for the Braves. In the 55 games he has played this year, the outfielder has hit 14 home runs and driven in 26 runs. He also has 9 doubles and 1 triple while batting at a .306 average.
The player has now suffered another injury. As per MLB insider Mark Bowman, Acuna Jr. was left in tears while talking after the game. The Venezuelan international suffered some discomfort and tightness in his right Achilles after he scored from 1st. He was later seen walking around in a protective boot.
Acuña held back tears as he talked after tonight's game. He said he'll be further evaluated (likely MRI) tomorrow. He felt discomfort when he scored from first on Monday. He lobbied to play today because in his mind he had missed too much time already this season.

The 27-year-old will undergo further tests (likely an MRI) on Wednesday. For now, he will be on the 10-day injured list.
Atlanta Braves management receives flak from fans on social media following injury to Ronald Acuna Jr.
Ronald Acuna Jr. was forced to make an early exit from the game on Tuesday against the Kansas City Royals following another injury. The Braves star, who was 0-for-2 for the day before his injury, walked off the field without any assistance in the 6th inning of the game.

After more details regarding his injury came out, fans on X would slam the Braves’ management team. They would blame the team for using him too much in a season where things have not gone well for them. One user wrote, “Fire the training staff” while making their feelings known.

Whoever agreed to let him play after complaining of discomfort on Monday needs to fired, prosecuted, and jailed immediately.

Please shut him down for the season. There is ZERO reason to risk anything. We need him for next year.

The Atlanta Braves, who started the season with a 0-7 record, would end up losing 9-6 on Tuesday. This left them with a 45-61 record, 16 games behind the New York Mets for first place. They are just 1.5 games ahead of the last-place Washington Nationals.
Ronald Acuna Jr. admits being worried about his health following latest injury
Just when it seemed like things were getting better for Ronald Acuna Jr., he suffered another blow. The 5-time MLB All-Star is expected to miss more time now following some Achilles tightness. During the post-game interview, the player admitted that he was ‘worried‘ about this injury.

While speaking with the reporters through his interpreter, Acuna Jr. expressed that he had felt some discomfort on Monday after he scored from first base on a double from Austin Riley. The team would advise him to take the day off, but he insisted on playing as he had missed games already.
I think [the Achilles] definitely got worse today. I told them yesterday and everybody said take today off. But I’ve just missed so much time with injuries, and I didn’t want to miss any more time… It’s an injury. I’m worried.

Before tearing his ACL last year, Acuna Jr. had suffered an ACL tear on his right knee in 2021. He would miss almost half of the season back then and was also not part of the World Series-winning roster due to this injury. However, he did get a ring for his contributions.
This season, things have been very different for the Atlanta Braves. Their loss on Tuesday marked their 6th defeat in their last 7 games. They would hope to avoid dropping another series on Wednesday before turning their attention towards the Cincinnati Reds.
