FC Barcelona centre-back, Ronald Araujo was one of the most important players for the team in the last two seasons. He had been the main pillar in defense and also became one of the club captains this season.

However, the player suffered a torn hamstring tendon in his right leg during the Copa America 2024 quarterfinal for Uruguay and has missed the season for Barcelona since then.

The player underwent surgery in July and has now made his comeback in Barcelona training sessions. For the last few weeks, he was slowly increasing his workload and on December 1, he was in the training session with the team for the first time this season.

The Barcelona manager, Hansi Flick, has not confirmed the return date for the Uruguayan defender but he feels that the player will soon make his comeback on the field.

Ronald is doing really well. He’s on a really good level and he’s very close. I cannot say it’s the next match, or maybe next week, I don’t want to do that because he has to have a good feeling. [But] it looks really good in training.

Hansi Flick told the reporters in the press-conference ahead of the game against Mallorca

The centre-back duo of Inigo Martinez and Pau Cubarsi have done sensationally well for the club this season. However, Barca are starting to concede goals in the last few games and are winless in the LaLiga in the last three games.

Hence, the return of Araujo is very crucial for the club. The 25-year-old is strong, pacey and has shown all the defensive attributes to be one of the best defenders in the world. His return to training is a big boost for the club.

Sevilla is interested in finalising a loan move for Ansu Fati

Ansu Fati displayed the spark when he started off his career for Barcelona. He was being seen as the next big thing coming out of the La Masia academy. However, consistent injuries have derailed the progress of the player.

His sensational performances have waned off and he was loaned to Brighton & Hove Albion last season. He suffered an injury there as well and did not quite show the performance for the club to buy him.

Since coming back to Barca, the player has not displayed the spark whenever Flick has decided to trust him. Meanwhile, he has suffered an injury yet again and might be sidelined till the middle of December.

SPORT reports that Sevilla still want to sign him on loan in January, provided the deal is financially worthy. However, it depends on the player. Fati knows his situation in the Catalan club but still hasn’t shown signs of leaving.
