Former Brazilian sensation, Ronaldinho has blasted the Brazilian national team just ahead of their opening game in the 2024 Copa America. In a statement he made to Cartoloucos, he expressed his rage and frustration at the Selecao while questioning the commitment and level of players ahead of their first game in the Copa America 2024.
Sharing the clip from Cartoloucos, he also took to his Instagram to drum up the magnitude of flak that he inflicted upon the Brazilian team while citing Vinicius Jr. as a sliver of hope in an otherwise dark sky. Fabrizio Romano also reshared the post on his social network as the world simply couldn’t stop talking about Ronaldinho’s rant.
I'm not going to watch any of the games. Everything is missing, determination, joy, not playing well. I’m not even going to watch one game.Said Ronaldinho to Cartoloucous
He echoed the same on Instagram.
That's it guys, it's over for me. This is a sad moment for those who love Brazilian football. It's difficult to find the energy to watch the games. This is perhaps one of the worst teams in recent years, it has no respectable leaders, just average players for the most part.Ronaldinho posted on Instagram
He ascribed the players for not having any dedication whatsoever to the national jersey. He talked about how he was a football fan first before becoming one of the icons that we know him as today. All the qualities that he would usually admire in anyone who would don the national threads, somehow that has entirely vanished.
Ronaldinho believes that Vinicius Jr can be the only one who can carry this Brazil team forward
Ronaldinho reserved a bit of praise for Brazilian forward, Vinicius Jr, labelling him as the solitary beacon of hope in the current scenario of the country’s footballing circuit. With La Liga and UEFA Champions League being pocketed earlier by Vinicius, Ronaldinho has been rooting for the youngster to showcase his talent at the Copa America.
Brazil recently drew a friendly against the USA where Rodrygo’s early strike was nullified by Christian Pulisic’s equaliser in the 26th minute. Despite unloading one shot after the other, Brazil’s attacking unit failed to break down the American defence.
They will now take on Costa Rica on June 24th as they kick off their Copa America campaign. It is set to take place at the SoFi Stadium.
