Rory McDonald was a fan of BJ Penn and that’s why his fight with him is his favorite one
Rory McDonald is a former UFC top-ranked welterweight and former Bellator welterweight champion, who is now making his return at PFL’s third season to grab the grand prize of 1 million dollars.
During his time in UFC, he defeated the likes of Tyron Woodley, Nate Diaz, Demian Maia, Jake Ellenberger, and BJ Penn. His fight with BJ Penn is his favorite fight of his career, and that fight holds a special place in his heart because Penn was his idol growing up.
In an interview with Helen Yee, he said, “I got to fight a lot of the top guys. BJ Penn was a really big one for me because I always looked up to him as a young teenager when I started watching MMA.”
‘I got to fight a lot of the best guys out there, and I think that’s a big blessing, and I plan on climbing that ladder again and getting back to the top of the welterweight division. That’s a major goal of mine.

Rory McDonald is competing in the third season of PFL, and he makes his return against David Michaud, after competing at the top of the division for most of his life Rory couldn’t pass the chance to grab the grand prize of $1 million.
He says that climbing back the ladder to once again be on the top of the division is his number one goal, this could also mean that he has some plans on returning inside the octagon, and if he does it would be interesting to see who his first opponent would be.
