First start of the 2025 season, first win of the 2025 season. On Sunday Rory McIlroy claimed his 27th PGA Tour win of his career after he took home the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am title.
The North Irish golfer was making his first start on the tour this year. After three rounds, he was tied with his Ryder Cup teammate Shane Lowry as both shot scores of 66, 70, and 65.
In the final round, both McIlroy and Lowry once again went head-to-head. After making a bogey on the 8th hole, there were some doubts about whether the 35-year-old golfer could contain himself and bounce back. In the past few seasons, McIlroy has suffered some major setbacks which has derailed his chances of winning a tournament.
He went on to make an eagle at the par 5 14th hole. Following a birdie on the 15th hole, he took a 3-shot lead over Lowry. This time, he made sure to cross the finish line as he shot a score of 6-under 66 and won the event finishing 21-under par, two strokes ahead of Lowry.

Social media reactions to Rory McIlroy winning the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am
Over the last three years, Rory McIlroy has suffered some big heartbreaks on the PGA Tour. His two missed putts from close range at the Pinehurst during the U.S. Open, losing a four-shot lead in the final round of the Irish Open, and finishing fifth at the Olympics have been some of the major near misses for him. This time though, there was no such case.
From the start, he looked comfortable. A two-stroke victory at the iconic Pebble Beach ignited some joyous reactions across social media.
One fan would write, “Absolute class” while reacting to his win. Others wished him well and hoped that he finally lands another major championship this year.
