Each year before the Masters Tournament begins on Thursday, families of golfers take part in the par-3 contest. This event is seen as a stress buster before the players turn serious and fight for the iconic green jacket and try to join an elite list of winners.

McIlroy took part in this event while his wife Erica Stoll took on the role of the caddie. Their 4-year-old daughter, Poppy, too donned the official attire of the Augusta National. The McIlroy family would play alongside Shane Lowry and his family.

The adorable moment came at the 9th hole. While using just one hand on the putter, the young kid would hit the ball without any care.

Luck was on her side, though. The ball would slowly start rolling down the slope. As it inched closer, Lowry, who was standing beside McIlroy, had his hands up in air for celebrations.

While Poppy had no idea that she drained an incredible putt, the patrons at the Augusta National would explode in huge cheers. One of Lowry’s daughters would come rushing towards Poppy and tried to lift her off the ground.

McIlroy overcame J.J. Spaun in a three-hole playoff on Monday to claim his 2nd The Players Championship win. During the press conference this week, he was asked whether having Poppy by his side changes his mood after a poor showing in the tournament.

While answering this question, McIlroy shared that after his win at the TPC Sawgrass, his daughter came up to him and asked, “Daddy, are you famous?” leading to laughter in the press room.

She went into school and there was a couple of kids that had said some stuff to her, and she came home to me that day and said, ‘Daddy, are you famous?’” I said, ‘It depends who you talk to. It’s a bit of a double-edged sword. You have to temper the expectations sometimes.
