Rory McIlroy is riding high with confidence at the moment. Last month, the Northern Irish golfer finally won the Masters Tournament at the Augusta National. A 2-time major later claimed that it would be ‘scary’ to face him now that he has finally accomplished what he wanted. The World No.2, though, is unfazed by that remark.
For years, McIlroy had been trying to win the Masters Tournament. This event had been one that had eluded him for a long time. In April this year, he finally overcame the demons of this tournament and clinched the green jacket.
After this win, 2-time major champion and World No.3 Xander Schauffele said that it would be ‘scary‘ to face McIlroy now as he could play without any pressure on his shoulders. Ahead of the PGA Championship this week at Quail Hollow, McIlroy kept his feet on the ground and refused to believe any such thing.
I’m just the same person. Look, I turn up and try to have the same attitude and the same approach to each and every tournament and try to get the best out of myself.
Rory McIlroy told the reporters at the PGA Championship
The 36-year-old did acknowledge that he had accomplished everything he wanted in his golfing career. The former World No.1’s triumph in April saw him become just the 6th player in golf history to win all the four major championships.

Rory McIlroy addresses Bryson DeChambeau’s comments of silence during final round of Masters Tournament
In the final round of the Masters Tournament, Rory McIlroy was paired up with Bryson DeChambeau. Following the round, the American international expressed that McIlroy did not utter a single word and would not speak with him.

During the PGA Championship press conference, McIlroy addressed these comments of DeChambeau. The 5-time major champion claimed he was just trying to get the best out of himself.
I don’t know what he was expecting. We’re trying to win the Masters. I’m not going to try to be his best mate out there.

McIlroy and DeChambeau were involved in a thrilling battle at the U.S. Open last year. In the third major of the year in 2024, the PGA Tour star slipped up late, which opened the gates for his LIV Golf rival to mount an incredible comeback and clinch the major title.
In the Masters, though, McIlroy had the last laugh over DeChambeau. While he emerged as the winner, DeChambeau collapsed a bit and had to settle with a T5 finish.
Rory McIlroy unsure if any other win will live up to the hype of Masters Tournament win
For years, fans had been hoping to witness a Rory McIlroy Masters Tournament win. This year, their wish was fulfilled as he finally won the event after overcoming Justin Rose in the playoff round. The golfer is now unsure whether any other win of his will live up to the hype of the Masters triumph.

McIlroy found himself in a troubling situation at the end of Round 1 as two double bogeys late on took his train off the tracks. He bounced back strongly in Rounds 2 and 3 with scores of 66 on Friday and Saturday.
In the final round, the lead at the top kept changing. Despite some hiccups, McIlroy eventually crossed the line in the 1st playoff hole. The golf community would erupt in joy after years of heartbreak, he finally won the Masters Tournament.
His win saw several golfers, celebrities, and even the Presidents of countries congratulate him for the win. His triumph also brought in 12.7 million views, making this one of the most watched final round of the event since Patrick Reed‘s win in 2018.
I want to still create a lot of other highlights and high points, but I’m not sure if any other win will live up to what happened a few weeks ago.
