Jayden Daniels showed the league this season that he is cut from a different cloth. The former LSU star went on to lead his Washington Commanders to the NFC Championship game, breaking the mold and even surprising many.

It was not as if he and his team did not lose games. In fact, one of their most embarrassing losses was against Jerry Jones‘ Dallas Cowboys. That team was devoid of a starting QB in Dak Prescott. Despite that, the Cowboys romped away to victory on the Commanders’ turf.

But that loss probably was the fuel Jayden Daniels and his teammates needed. They won their remaining five regular season games to finish the season 12-5, enough to earn a Wild Card spot. The last of those wins was against the Cowboys, but Daniels did not play much in that game. Even then, Jerry Jones had seen enough to say this.

I get sick when I think the Cowboys gotta play him twice a year for the rest of his career. He’s a great talent, unique. I’m glad to have him in the NFL. Frankly, I like the idea of competing as we look forward to years ahead against the Redskins.

Jerry Jones sounded happy that his team did not give Jayden Daniels a great time in the game and a half he played. But he knows all too well that the Commanders rookie is going to be a problem for his team. They will clash twice a year as part of the NFC East.

Jayden Daniels gets his first award in the NFL

Up until the first half of the NFC Championship game, Jayden Daniels was knocking on the doors of history. Had he and his team not botched up their second half, he could have been the first rookie to lead his team in a Super Bowl.

But even then, the NFL, fans and media had seen enough of what the 24-year-old has done. Therefore, they named him the Pepsi Rookie of the Year, an award he was a favorite to win. This becomes the first major award of his young career. But definitely a great start for a player who many feel could be one of the greatest once he retires.

With strong family support around him, his mind will not waver unlike what many athletes struggle with. Then if the team can keep his focus on the task at hand and bring in reinforcements next season, the Washington Commanders could go the distance.

Jayden Daniels has brought enthusiasm to the league. Jerry Jones is not the only one excited with what the rookie can do. Now the star QB needs a bit more support on the offensive line, and maybe another wideout he can throw to.
