Now that CM Punk is well and truly back in WWE, fans always wonder whether he’ll ever be able to cajole his wife, AJ Lee, back to the squared circle. Not only the fans, but there are several WWE Superstars in general as well who’re manifesting the Crazy Chick’s dramatic comeback to wrestling. One such name is that of reigning NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez.
She was a guest on Pro Wrestling Illustrated. During the interview, Perez confirmed that she keeps making overtures to CM Punk for him to try and coax AJ Lee back to WWE. In turn, Punk tells her he’s been doing the same thing. Recently, The Best in the World addressed whether Lee would ever be back. During the post-show presser at Money in the Bank, Punk said he doesn’t want to give people false hope.

Moreover, the Chicagoan revealed that his wife has started a new production company. AJ made her foray into the entertainment industry in 2020 when she co-launched Scrappy Heart Productions with Aimee Garcia. In October 2021, the real-life April Mendez plotted a return to the realm of pro wrestling, but not as a performer.

She joined Women of Wrestling as an executive producer and served the office until her contract ran out of time in August last year. She hasn’t wrestled since 2015, when she was forced to give up in-ring competition following a string of back injuries.
In late December last year, Lee posted some videos of her taking bumps in the ring. It led many to speculate that she’s training for her WWE return at the Royal Rumble. However, the former Divas Champion was fine-tuning her body for a role in the TV series Heels.
CM Punk set for a blockbuster showdown at SummerSlam
Finally, CM Punk delivered the news that the fans have been waiting for on this week’s Raw. He confirmed that his surgeon told him he’s cleared for in-ring competition. Having said that, he called out Drew McIntyre.

The Second City Saint was keen on slapping the taste out of Drew’s mouth, but the latter didn’t want to lay his hands on Punk for a change. Adam Pearce announced that Punk and McIntyre would settle their differences at SummerSlam.
The Raw GM further introduced Seth Rollins as the special guest referee for the grudge match. It will mark Punk’s first one-on-one match in WWE since 2013. With Rollins officiating, there’s bound to be some shenanigans in it.
