Ex-Manchester United player Roy Keane blasted out at Alejandro Garnacho for not celebrating after scoring a goal in the club’s recent 3-0 win over Leicester City. The 20-year-old forward did not celebrate the goal, owing to recent criticism aimed at his form.

Alejandro Garnacho has been a revelation for the Red Devils. He is the club’s top goal-scorer this season with seven goals. However, he has been criticized for his recent form and his passing abilities. After scoring a brilliant goal against Leicester, Garnacho performed a muted celebration, contrary to what he always does.

Bruno Fernandes later revealed that the youngster feels that he might have lost fans’ trust. It was a result of an altercation with a fan prior to the club’s UEL encounter against PAOK, a week ago.

Garnacho’s actions, however, did not sit well with Roy Keane, who urged him to leave the club if he does not celebrate scoring goals. Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, Keane argued that the players should celebrate in order to show respect towards fans.

If you can’t celebrate a goal, there is something drastically wrong with this game. You’ve got fans who have traveled, paid fortunes to get there.. If a younger player can’t enjoy, then get a job somewhere else.

He added that the problems and pressures players face off the pitch should not reflect in their on-field display. Keane’s arguments were however, rejected by Ian Wright, who defended Garnacho’s reaction.

Nonetheless, the criticism does not seem to have affected Alejandro Garnacho, who looks set to shine under new United manager Ruben Amorim. Man Utd skipper Bruno Fernandes also encouraged the Argentine to not pay heed to the critics, while reassuring that United fans value him greatly.

Garnacho has been one of the most influential players at Old Trafford amid the club’s recent struggles. Despite remaining under contract at United until 2028, he could well be on his way out, following criticism by fans and pundits.

Per reports, Garnacho might join Real Madrid in the future, taking a path similar to that of his idol Cristiano Ronaldo. Butt suggested that it might be a step up for the Argentine forward.

It’s like Garnacho, he’s doing well here now. If he keeps going, you can imagine him wanting to go to Real Madrid or Barcelona. Players become superstars there, not only on the football pitch.

Alejandro Garnacho had previously been linked with a move to Juventus and Atletico Madrid. However, a move could not materialize after he signed a contract extension with Man Utd in April 2023.
