Manchester United’s newly appointed manager, Ruben Amorim, left the fans excited and yet on their toes with his very first press conference. Taking over the reins of the club from Erik ten Hag, the former Sporting CP coach made it clear that the Red Devils should be restored to their former glory. The 39-year-old boss joined the club last week and said that he has felt an instant connection with Manchester United.
Ruben Amorim also stated that United is the engine of the Premier League and would be doing everything in his power to restore the club to its former glory. Despite the focus on the ideal 3-4-3 system that brought rewards for Amorim at Sporting, he has hinted that he will be trying to stamp his authority with a similar principal that Erik ten Hag had at Old Trafford.

Amorim claimed that he will be emphasizing the character, the way Manchester United plays, and also building an identity for the club. He said that the players donning the threads of Manchester United should know the weight of the jersey that they are putting on.
Amorim also added a note on playing fearlessly while pledging that he will do everything for the club during his reign. Reports said that ahead of Manchester United landing Amorim, there were other suitors in the market who were impressed with the kind of play that he had knitted during his stay in the Portuguese club.
Here is what X had to say about Ruben Amorim after his first interview as the Manchester United manager
X had mixed reactions to his first media conference, with fans coining the term ‘Engine of the Premier League’ to be a very arrogant remark. Some fans were quick to underline that he is not saying that the team is now in great shape, but his remark is simply a testimony to the popularity of the team. Others were quick to highlight that there have been way more arrogant remarks that didn’t age well.
There were other fans who believed that Amorim should have a training session with his players before making a remark. Others said that the new United boss has no idea about what he is stepping into. They drew comparisons by claiming that the Portuguese league that he was a part of is nowhere close to the quality of the Premier League. Meanwhile, others put it in plain terms that they are awaiting him to be humbled.

The rest is history
Manchester United is currently in the 13th spot of the points table with just four wins from 11 games. Scoring goals has been a major spot of bother for the Red Devils, as they have only netted and conceded identical numbers with 12 goals next to their name. They will be up against Leicester City in the Round 12 clash of the ongoing Premier League season, which will be the first assignment for Amorim as the club’s head coach.
