Newly appointed Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim joins the club with a lot of expectations. Besides the fact that he led Sporting to two Primeira Liga titles in four years, he also happens to be the former teammate of United legend Cristiano Ronaldo. The two shared the pitch for the Portuguese National team years back, with the former even calling Amorim a ‘poet’ in the past.

With Amorim’s arrival complete and the club set to go into the new era, fans have begun to wonder why Ronaldo gave Amorim the title of ‘poet’. Even though Amorim is known for his passion, high-intensity style of play and close relationship with his players, the Portuguese manager is also known for his effective style of communication.

Many believe that Cristiano Ronaldo is a ‘victim’ of the mismanagement and disarray at United, exemplified by the manner in which he left Old Trafford after his second spell. As of now, United ‘need’ some good fortune given their position in the League standings. The Red Devils are now placed 13th, with just 15 points from their first 11 games. The new manager has joined up with his players at Old Trafford as he navigates his squad at Carrington training facility.

Amorim’s Manchester United face their first challenge against Ipswich Town at Portman Road on the 24th of November. In his first interview as United boss, the master tactician outlined his objectives, with ‘identity’ being top of the list. The club has often been criticized for its lack of game plan, form and intensity. Fans are hoping that the new manager can restore the club to its former levels of glory.
