Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim revealed the reason why he left forward Marcus Rashford out of the club’s squad for their last three encounters. He remained confident of his decision, while urging the 27-year-old forward to be more ‘engaged’.
Marcus Rashford was left out of the Red Devils’ squad for their matches against Man City, Tottenham and Bournemouth. He was initially omitted alongside youngster Alejandro Garnacho, but the Argentinian returned to the fold soon after. Tensions with manager Ruben Amorim have increased, following Rashford’s most recent revelation that he is ready to take up a ‘new challenge’. The Portuguese later criticized the Englishman’s media admission, while highlighting his importance in the United squad.
Rumors are rife of a possible fallout between the two over Rashford’s form and attitude. Amorim most recently revealed the reason for leaving him out. He urged the 27-year-old to take up more responsibility and engage himself, in order to make it back into the team.
Moreover, he suggested the forward to try and lead newer players. He termed Rashford’s exclusion as ‘normal’. While expressing confidence in his decisions, Amorim added that he would lose himself, if he was not allowed to do things in his own way.
I want Rashford to be like any other player… big responsibility, big engagement. He wants to play, it’s only my decision. I’m doing things my way. It’s the only way I know, if I don’t do that I’ll lose myself.

The Red Devils face a midfield crisis, owing to Christian Eriksen and Casemiro’s poor form. Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo’s unavailability has added to the problem. With a busy football season ahead, the club might target a midfielder in the next transfer window.

Ederson also made his mark on the international stage, making his debut for the Brazilian national team this year. The former Salernitana midfielder is a brilliant box-to-box player, with great interception skills. Atalanta might however, demand in excess of £50 million for the Brazilian star.
