Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim recently admitted that his players are ‘anxious’ and ‘afraid.’ This revelation comes ahead of their Premier League encounter against Liverpool. He revealed that the Red Devils’ recent struggles have taken a toll on him as well as his players.

Ruben Amorim has not enjoyed the best of the starts to his managerial career at Old Trafford, winning just four out of 11 matches. He was initially brought with a hope of turning United’s fortunes around, following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal.

However, injuries and a lack of consistency has halted the club’s progress. The Red Devils are currently on a four-match losing streak, and have slumped to 14th position on the EPL table. Their last win came against Manchester City, whom they surprisingly beat 2-1. Ahead of a crucial encounter against league-leaders Liverpool, Ruben Amorim spoke about the team’s struggles.

They are anxious, sometimes afraid on the pitch. We have to cope with that. We need the leaders to step up to help the other guys and I’m the most responsible person here to improve the performances.

United will be aiming to turn around their disappointing form, which saw them lose four matches in a row recently. The club might be in the market for a goal-scoring forward, a midfielder and a defender. Amorim recently stated that the club would try to do something during the winter transfer window.

When the window is open, we can try to do something and we will try to do something… I will keep that to myself. But we’ll try to do something.

Recent reports revealed that the club might be interested in a swap deal involving out-of-favor forward Marcus Rashford. The Englishman could move to Serie A side Napoli, while on-loan Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen could join Man Utd. What the club does in the transfer window remains to be seen.
