Since joining the Pittsburgh Steelers this season, Russell Wilson has successfully transformed his narrative. Being in contention for the AFC North title, the veteran quarterback has proved that the growing age hasn’t caught up with him yet and he wants to continue that in yellow and black.

Despite the success of the 10-4 season, there have been rumors that Wilson is likely to hit the free agent market next year as he only signed a one-year contract with Pittsburgh. Amid the growing rumors, the Super Bowl champion addressed his uncertain future with the Steelers at the Why Not You Foundation event organized by him and his wife Ciara and documented by Hard Rocks.

Wilson, who was surrounded by young kids, was asked if he would like to continue playing for the Steelers or does he has plans to play elsewhere once his contract expires.

Yeah, I love it. It’s awesome,” replied Wilson, to which a follow-up question came about re-signing with the franchise.

Hopefully, I love it here. It’s cool. Hopefully we’re going to win a Super Bowl.

Russell Wilson added

It appears Wilson’s future depends on the condition of the Steelers advancing to the Super Bowl or winning the Vince Lombardi Trophy. At present, the quarterback is playing with an underwhelming salary of $1.2 million. Given that he’s set to earn $39 million from his former team, the Denver Broncos, he signed with Pittsburgh for the sake of playing football.

With the success in leading the Steelers to Super Bowl contention, the team may need to offer the veteran quarterback a well-deserved contract if they plan to re-sign him.

Russell Wilson confident in Steelers’ ability to bounce back after loss to Eagles

Even though the Steelers have already secured a spot in playoffs, their recent defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles raised concerns about their ability to compete at the highest level. However, Wilson expressed his confidence in the team’s ability to bounce back, when he addressed the media postgame.

I think the most important thing coming out of it though is that we’ve got to get ourselves the best chance to win. When we put ourselves in good situations, go and capitalize on them. We’re going to have to play our best football. It’s going to be a great game.

Russell Wilson said

The nine-time Pro Bowler emphasized that the Steelers need to focus on the future of securing the divisional title. Currently, the Steelers hold a one-game lead over their long-time rivals, the Baltimore Ravens, as they prepare to face off in Week 16. If they secure a victory over them, it would solidify their chance of securing the AFC North title.
