For the first time in his professional football career, Russell Wilson is on the bench for reasons other than injury. That was not what he hoped for when signing with the New York Giants this past offseason.

The 36-year-old took his time to decide on his future with offers from the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, and the Giants on the table. He could have stayed in Pennsylvania, but he felt that he and his family needed to move to New York.

The appeal was great for the family, as his wife, Ciara, could once again be immersed in the entertainment industry. Moreover, had Wilson played well, he would have been heralded as the quarterback to bring New Yorkers joy.

That would have a lasting impact on their lives, as both would then become cult heroes. That dream, though, collapsed faster than they imagined after the Super Bowl champion QB was benched in favor of rookie Jaxson Dart after just three games.

Despite that disappointing situation, Wilson does not let his profession get in the way of happiness. When it was time to celebrate a family matter, the Ohio native made it as grand as possible.

It was Ciara’s birthday, and the quarterback decided to throw his musician wife a surprise party. To ensure the party was a success, Russell Wilson called on some of his teammates.

Good Times with my homies for life! Jameis, BBurns, & the one & only LEEK! Celebrating the (queen) Ciara’s birthday.

Russell Wilson spends time at children’s hospital

When Russell Wilson was having a tumultuous time with the Denver Broncos, head coach Sean Payton slammed his QB’s focus on his community work.

That did not faze the 2020 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year, as he has continued his efforts to help those in need in whatever way he can. After celebrating his wife’s birthday, the quarterback visited Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital.

There, he spent time with children, their parents, and hospital staff, cheering them up in whatever way he could. The superstar decided this was the best way to spend Halloween.

Wilson might be aware that unless rookie QB Jaxson Dart struggles or suffers an injury, or the Giants enjoy a blowout lead with time left, he might not get back on the football field this season. Therefore, he is making the most of his time in New York.

Jaxson Dart makes a young child’s day at New Jersey hospital

Russell Wilson is trying to be at his professional best, helping Jaxson Dart get acclimatized to the brand of football at work in the NFL. It seems the former’s charitable work is also rubbing off on the rookie.

While the veteran was at a New York hospital, the Ole Miss alum decided to head to another hospital, this time, the New Jersey Pediatric Cancer Center.

There, donned in a Superman costume, he met a young fan by the name of Giuseppi. Dart greeted the child as the latter ran to hug the Giants QB.

Clips of this gesture soon went viral, as it shows the human side of professional athletes, who are otherwise subjected to a lot of criticism in their work lives.
