The Wallace’s are one of the biggest racing families in the history of NASCAR. They have given the sport one of its best racers ever in Rusty Wallace, an ex-Cup champion. His brothers Mike Wallace and Kenny Wallace, also experienced significant success in the sport with the latter being a significant figure in NASCAR media after retirement.
The 2025 season will mark the return of Mike Wallace, the less accomplished driver of the three brothers, to the Cup series and it is going to be special. He is set to attempt to qualify for the Daytona 500 with MBM Motorsports at the age of 65. Wallace does have a good shot at making it into the race as the team had a solid car last season.
Mike Wallace, who made his also Cup start in 2015 Daytona 500, is coming to honor his wife who lost her life due to cancer. In an interview with his brother Kenny Wallace, he made the announcement. He confirmed that he is doing this to bring some fresh excitement to the life of he and his family.
The big reason is in January 2024 I lost my wife Carla from being married 44 years. She had a bout with cancer, we thought she had beat it, unfortunately, she didn’t and life wasn’t all that great, wasn’t that fun in 2024… 2025 brings fresh excitement, starting with this Daytona 500 announcement. They say you have to be in it to win it, and we are rolling into Daytona.

Mike Wallace is looking for a positive boost for 2025
In the same conversation, while further discussing the motivation behind the mov, Wallace admitted that he and his kids needs a boost going forward. He wants to have a positive story for he and his kids to experience, hence took the opportunity when it presented itself.

The whole NASCAR community will be looking forward for the return of the veteran racer with all of his family cheering him from the stands. It would be interesting to see how Wallace will perform in the tough Daytona event.
