The NASCAR garage was at the North Wilkesboro Speedway for the All-Star race as drivers are fighting all out for the $1 million payday. But it’s been almost three decades since the exhibition event has become the million-dollar race, and many in the racing community feels the time has come to raise the rewards.
2023 NASCAR Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney is one of such drivers that is seeking the change. During the race weekend he talked with the media and made his case for tripling the reward. He doesn’t want to be too greedy, though he would like a bigger paycheck like many in the grid and wants to see a $3 million reward in the coming years.
I definitely think it should get raised… That’s the only thing about the All-Star Race I’d probably change. I don’t want to get greedy, but I think you can raise it to $3 million.

His best friend and 23XI Racing star driver Bubba Wallace also had the same opinion as he asserted that “they’ve (NASCAR) got more TV money, so why not.” The Toyota Camry driver is hinting to the $7.7 billion broadcasting deal NASCAR has signed last year, which also ironically played part in the lawsuit that his team has been part of over the years.
Wallace’s boss and veteran JGR driver Denny Hamlin has recently made the perfect argument in favor of increasing the prize money. Via his podcast, he revealed that it almost cost a million for multi-cars teams to race in the event and they are only able to break even with the race win. So, it is needed to increase the prize pool.
Ryan Blaney gives advice to Kyle Larson for Indy 500
The upcoming weekend, while Ryan Blaney working on Coke 600 his Hendrick Motorsports rivals Kyle Larson will be racing at Indy 500 before catching a flight back to Charlotte for the longest NASCAR race on schedule. The whole racing community is excited to see what Larson can do on Sunday in both the events.

His preparations for the event haven’t been a smooth ride, with multiple crashes in practice and qualifying. Ryan Blaney has some advice to Larson to get over the disappointment, just forget about the minor mistakes as rough days are part of the job and focus on the main thing, Indy 500 race victory.
Yeah, everyone goes about it differently. I think it’s really important to have a short memory in this deal. Because you’re going to have rough days. You’re going to have times where you make mistakes and a wreck and things like that. It’s how do you just learn from it and then move on, right?
Ryan Blaney said.
Though he is fully backing Kyle Larson, he doesn’t want him to win though. This is because of the fact that three of his Team Penske teammates (IndyCar) are also racing in the event and his loyalty lays with them. It would be interesting to see how Larson will get over the drama and will he take advice of Blaney.
