Ryan Clark asserts 49ers will suffer with Brandon Aiyuk’s potential exit
It’s not a pretense that the Niners will start entertaining trade offers for Brandon Aiyuk upon his request.

Brandon Aiyuk’s contract situation is currently the biggest hot topic across the NFL, with prominent critics debating from a varied viewpoint. Considering the wide receiver’s contribution to the San Francisco 49ers’ run for the Super Bowl, many believe that the Super Bowl window in 2024 will close without Aiyuk.
In the recent episode of ESPN’s Get Up, analyst Ryan Clark also joined in that queue. The 49ers No. 2 receiver recently made headlines for requesting trade from the Niners, in order to gain more leverage in the contract negotiation– much like what Deebo Samuel did a couple of years back.
Although it’s not a pretense that the Niners will start entertaining trade offers, there’s a possibility that the team may trade up the star receiver. And if that happens, the 49ers may witness a regression in the game of quarterback Brock Purdy– so believes the former NFL safety and now analyst, Clark.
I think San Francisco suffers without Brandon Aiyuk, greatly. I think Brock Purdy takes a step back and there's some regression in his game without Brandon Aiyuk. Just look at the way he was able to win, especially in the playoff game versus the Detroit Lions. When you watched him line up, when it was 1-on-1, when you tried to shade him with the safeties, he found ways to make plays.Ryan Clark said via Get Up
Clark further highlighted that everything will change for the Niners if Aiyuk isn’t on the roster next year while appreciating his timing route, which has to be precise and right, and Aiyuk does exactly that.
Niners’ reluctance to part ways with Brandon Aiyuk
Amidst the whole contract saga, one thing remained the same: the Niners’ reluctance to trade Aiyuk. The franchise has repeatedly ascertained that they wish to have Aiyuk on the roster beyond the coming 2024 season.

Many teams such as Washington Commanders because of Aiyuk’s friendship with rookie Jayden Daniels and Las Vegas Raiders after his connection with head coach Antonio Pierce, have emerged as a potential trade destination for the star receiver but the 49ers haven’t entertained any offer.
However, Aiyuk is seeking a definite contract from the 49ers rather than assurance, and therefore, he has been leveraging all the things in his power to land a desirable extension and continue playing with them as he wishes.
