The New York Giants sought a spark to end their decade-long struggle. Their prayers were answered in the form of Jaxson Dart.

Following a 0-3 start to the season with veteran Russell Wilson under center, coach Brian Daboll took the tough decision and gave the reins to Dart. At 22, he became the league’s youngest starting quarterback to win a game.

In his debut, the Giants outscored league MVP favorite Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers. A minor setback the previous week was soon put into perspective on Thursday, when the G-Men achieved an impressive victory against the defending Super Bowl champions.

So far in the season, Dart has completed a total of 56 passes from 85 attempts for 508 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. He further carried the ball 32 times for 167 yards and scored 2 rushing touchdowns.

The numbers don’t tell the entire story. His presence under center has changed the vibe among the Giants’ ranks, which Ryan Clark coined as “rizz.”

Jaxson Dart’s ceiling is extremely high because he got rizz. When you look at this team, their level of belief is different in Jaxson Dart.

Ryan Clark said in a recent segment of ESPN’s First Take

Clark backed the Giants to “a ton of football games,” which the fans “are going to enjoy watching them play” because of the way he approaches the game.

It is too early to jump to any kind of conclusion. Dart may be thriving right now, but it takes one bad moment to alter the trajectory of an individual’s destiny.

The positive impact of Dart’s presence in New York is evident for coach Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen. Both are under significant pressure, but the two recent victories have likely strengthened their positions, and Dart’s contributions may have played a crucial role in these successes.

Jaxson Dart created history in week six

Defeating a direct rival always feels sweet, especially when they have a former player who switched sides. Saquon Barkley returned to New York for the second time after leaving the Giants last year.

The Eagles won during his first visit with Barkley racking up 176 yards and 1 rushing touchdown on 17 carries. He only managed 58 yards on 12 carries on his second try.

New York’s run block stopped the reigning offensive player of the year from making noteworthy plays. In the meantime, Dart threw one and rushed for one TD while setting up rookie running back Cam Skattebo for 3 scores to snatch a win.

The win made Dart only the second rookie quarterback in the last 20 years to defeat the defending Super Bowl champion in primetime. Washington’s Robert Griffin III defeated the Giants in 2012.

Bleacher Report revealed that Dart became only the third quarterback, besides Patrick Mahomes (since 1991), with at least 50 rushing yards in each of their first three career starts in the Super Bowl era.

According to ESPN’s Blake Warye, the Giants are the first team in NFL history to beat a defending Super Bowl champ by 17-plus points while starting a rookie quarterback (excluding regular season finales).

The Giants’ next game is against Sean Payton’s Denver Broncos, who improved their record to 3-2 after defeating the Eagles in week five. As per the DraftKings Network, the Broncos are 7.5-point favorites to beat the NFC East franchise.
